On the Prowl

Finally after a break in the weather, I was able to get out and do a little hunting. Don't get me wrong, I do love winter - the fog and dampness, snow and exciting thunder storms, the relief of less sunshine....but that all puts a damper on the street faires and antique shows. Last weekend I found some fantastic old gypsy collectibles...this gorgeous gypsy caravan drape is appliqued old silk and velvet with cord embroidery work. It measures about 6 feet wide x 5 feet high.
This antique dream book c. 1887 is a wealth of information.

I was thrilled to find this vintage deck of Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Cards, the older graphics in this deck are fabulous and all the cards are present.

This old dancer's costume is rich black velvet with vintage sequins and flesh netting. The half mannequin wearing the costume and the costume are for sale together as the costume is fragile from age. The cards and drape are also for sale but the book is going into my collection for now. Happy Hunting!

What an amazing drape Crystal!
If only it could talk and speak the tales of all the fortunes told behind it and of all the places it has been...just wonderful!
I'd say it was good day for hunting because you brought back some fabulous things!

Hi Crystal!

Thanks for stopping by...I don't know if you put 2 and 2 together already, but we're friends on MySpace too! "BELOVE & CO." We talked back and forth for a while about me coming out to Placerville to do a photoshoot with Robyn Von Swank. She's actually coming out here to Chicago late this Spring...But I'm still dying to come out to see your Curiosity Shop! You must be all settled in to the new place by now...I have to get out there to visit!
