A Little Side Trip

Took a 3 day trip recently to Monterey area just to relax and watch the ocean sunset through big picture windows.....the added bottle of Vampire wine made things extra nice. Cool and overcast at the beach, a nice break from the heat.... Did a little antique shopping during the day and found some fun old things, now all for sale at my shop.....and I can't wait to take another trip to destinations unknown... This tall hand painted cupboard has fun scalloping and is very gypsy like in nature - $595

Boxes, Boxes and More Boxes

Been working on lots of vintage boxes lately, altering them to make something a little more interesting..... Novelty Magic Boxes filled with lots of magical delights and conversation pieces..... Each one a little different and unique. This one above is a walnut burl with applied art...

This one is blackened inlaid wood with my favorite signature devil head applied and lots of curious little treasures all compact inside!

This one holds the Bohemian Gothic Tarot Deck quite nicely. It is a lovely deck with skull designs on the backside of each card. My Tarot Boxes can be sold with or without the cards...

A new tour of my store - May 2008

Did you spot little Elvira??? She is only about 2 1/2"....

Been so busy - embellishing top hats, hunting at Estate sales and street faires, making tarot card storage boxes and voodoo dolls, never ending projects... Luckily my people are walking into my shop with fun stuff to sell, saves me a few trips. If you spotted anything on this tour of the store you have to have, let me know.

On the Prowl

Finally after a break in the weather, I was able to get out and do a little hunting. Don't get me wrong, I do love winter - the fog and dampness, snow and exciting thunder storms, the relief of less sunshine....but that all puts a damper on the street faires and antique shows. Last weekend I found some fantastic old gypsy collectibles...this gorgeous gypsy caravan drape is appliqued old silk and velvet with cord embroidery work. It measures about 6 feet wide x 5 feet high.
This antique dream book c. 1887 is a wealth of information.

I was thrilled to find this vintage deck of Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Cards, the older graphics in this deck are fabulous and all the cards are present.

This old dancer's costume is rich black velvet with vintage sequins and flesh netting. The half mannequin wearing the costume and the costume are for sale together as the costume is fragile from age. The cards and drape are also for sale but the book is going into my collection for now. Happy Hunting!
